The Battle of Lake Erie Bicentennial Documentary, produced by Peter Huston, will air Thursday, October 3rd, at 8 pm on WGTE-TV PBS.
In September of 1813, during the War of 1812, Oliver Hazard Perry of the U.S. Navy and his crew of 557 brave patriots prevailed over the British fleet in the Battle of Lake Erie near Put-in-Bay, Ohio. Two hundred years later, a fleet of tall ships came together to celebrate Perry’s victory and the enduring peace between nations. On September 2, 2013, thousands of spectators, aboard the tall ships and hundreds of private boats, converged on the battle site for a thrilling re-enactment of the Battle of Lake Erie. “Toledo Stories: The Battle of Lake Erie” will provide a first-hand point-of-view of the once-in-a-lifetime event.
