Here’s the lowdown, or at least the best the I can explain and predict. While there is open water is most places, there is also a tremendous amount of “flow ice” between the islands. The prudence of waiting it out a few more days far outweighs the risk of causing any damage to the ferries. They are calling for NE winds in excess of 30 mph Thursday night into Friday with Westerly gales in excess of 35 mph for Saturday. This is EXACTLY what we need to get the ice out of here.
