Put-in-Bay School News

School News – by Steve Poe, SuperintendentPut in Bay School

In preparation for a new school year, the summer months gave us an opportunity to do some “spring cleaning” and maintenance at the school.  The following is a list of some of the tasks we completed over the summer: painted room 203; made renovations in high school science lab; replaced flushing levers in restrooms; waxed all classroom and hallway floors; cleaned all carpets, rugs, and runners; converted an office into a 6th grade classroom; placed an outdoor storage shed between the gym and playground; and remodeled the treasurer’s office.

This year’s motto is, “A Great Place to Learn!”  The individual attention our students receive is second to none.  From our gifted/talented program to our Panther Pride program, from college course offerings to summer school intervention, Put-in-Bay School strives to meet the needs of each student.  Our students are able to participate in community theater, sports, clubs, and activities.  We are very fortunate to have so many opportunities for a school our size.  This is a credit to our supportive local businesses and to community involvement.

Parents are encouraged to attend the Put-in-Bay School Open House on Wednesday, September 7th from 3:15 to 4:30.  This is an opportunity to meet the teachers and hear about the academic goals for the year.  Refreshments will be provided, along with free babysitting.

Here are some important dates to consider when making appointments and travel plans this coming year:

  • September 3 – 5 (Labor Day Weekend)
  • November 23 – 27 (Thanksgiving)
  • December 2 – 4   (Basketball Trip to Mackinac Island)
