Documents gained through Freedom of Information, as well as on-site photography, indicate changes in Put-in-Bay land development plans. McDonald’s will open at Put-in-Bay. (Click images for enlarged view.)
New site plans show a contemporary McDonald’s will be established instead of additional Banyan Cove condominiums. The Phase II sign placed in the fall of 2016 has a printed vinyl cover, and earth-movers have graded the landscape there.
It seems local environmentalists, dwelling on issues related to Coopers Woods, have overlooked a zoning decision to designate the Banyan Cove Phase II project “repealed.”
It is interesting to note public meetings were postponed at the time project development changes were entered into real estate records.
Put-in-Bay Village and Township officials have not released any statements in this regard. However, the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce, in a private e-mail memorandum leaked to our news staff, includes the following: “PBCC applauds the aggressive movement toward a high-profile revenue generator.”
A highly volatile mixture of public reception to this news is anticipated. Attempted contacts to Banyan Cove administrators have not been successful. The resolution, of course, depends on who becomes this year’s April .
