Put-in-Bay Celebrates Blessing of the Fleet

Put in BayUnder a sunny sky and a fresh breeze out of the northeast, residents of the Bass Islands gathered at Put-in-Bay to witness the annual Blessing of the Fleet.  On the water, participants included Perry’s Longboat, two vessels from Miller Boat Line, a Jet Express ferry, several private boaters, and a Boardwalk Harbor Taxi.  Representatives and vehicles from the Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Department and the Put-in-Bay EMS, as well as the Life Flight Helicopter were also on hand to receive blessings administered by Rev. Mary Staley, Rev. Jim Lehman, and Rev. James Peiffer.  The Put-in-Bay School Choir performed, too.  The event was coordinated by Peter Huston, the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce Ambassador.
