A southeasterly wind at 7-10 knots, recorded at South Bass Island Lighthouse, created relief from 80°F temperatures and high relative humidity around the Bass Islands today. Some Deep-Water sailboat racers, from places like Cleveland and Detroit, braved night conditions to arrive at the Put-in-Bay public docks early in the morning, while others arrived after 3pm.
Watersport aficionados also populated Put-in-Bay and surrounding environment. Bayweek sailors are scheduled to start racing Friday morning, although the wind forecast might be problematic for some. According to Predictwind, at 10am a south-westerly wind will be at 22 knots with gusts up to 30 knots.
