Panther Basketball Succumbs to Powerful Leadership Academy

Put in Bay SchoolPut-in-Bay School athletes contended with strong play by the Jones Leadership Academy Mustangs (Toledo Public Schools) on Saturday.  The Junior High squad, in spite of energetic efforts by all members and quick moves by Kate Byrnes, suffered a 68-18 loss.  The varsity teams were much more evenly matched; both teams scored three-pointers throughout the game.  The final score was not settled until going into overtime with 43 points for each team.  With 55 seconds left on the clock, both teams scored two-point baskets, but the Mustangs pulled ahead with a closing three-pointer to take the win at 48-45.Put in Bay School

Put in Bay SchoolSchool choir members performed the National Anthem, and the effervescent cheerleaders rallied the community at every stage of the games.  WPIB Radio broadcaster Patrick Myers completed an informative and enthusiastic play-by-play commentary.
