Put in Bay Blessing of the Fleet

L-R: Peter Huston, Chamber of Commerce; Rev. Staley, St. Paul’s; Pastor Lehman, St. John’s; Deacon Leahy, Mother of Sorrows

Put-in-Bay community gathered to celebrate a traditional Blessing of the Fleet on Tuesday morning under clear skies and bright sunshine.  Clergy from the Catholic, Episcopal, and Lutheran faiths united in prayer and blessings for passenger, service, historical, and private vessels motoring past the Jet Express dock at Put-in-Bay harbor.  Airplanes from Griffing Flying Service, the Life Flight Helicopter, and Put-in-Bay EMS, Fire, and Police Department vehicles were also included.  Each participant and craft was individually blessed for safety and success during the 2018 maritime season.  The event, coordinated by the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce and Boardwalk Harbor Operations, included a choir performance by Put-in-Bay School students and delicious refreshments.  Click any image below for the enlarged view.
