Put-in-Bay School Sailing Team ventured out in The Bay this morning to continue their 2018 training. Alex, Nora, Tali, Kate, Max, Alice, Macy, Emil, Joe, and Hope (students in grades 7 through 11), handled the 420’s in southerly 10-knot winds and brilliant sunlight.
Safety in sailing is paramount; in addition to life jackets, helmets and layered clothing, team sailors follow the “100 Rule.” This rule requires the combined water and air temperatures to be at least 100 degrees. Today’s Put-in-Bay air temperature is 51°F, and the water temperature is 63°F.
