
Wintry weather keeps islanders tuned to announcements by Miller Boat Line about suspended operations. Changeable conditions hamper residents’ preparations for when Lake Erie freezes and flying off-island is the only option to get to the mainland. National Weather Service Cleveland provides the information below as of 9:26pm Thursday, 15 November 2018.
SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM
6 AM FRIDAY TO 3 AM EST SATURDAY…
* WINDS…Southwest 15 to 25 knots with gusts up to 35 knots.
* WAVES…3 to 5 feet…occasionally 7 feet.
A Small Craft Advisory is issued when waves of 4 feet or more are
expected or wind speeds reach 21 to 33 knots which may produce
hazardous conditions to small craft.
A cold front will push southeast through the forecast area Saturday morning into Sunday morning with mainly upper level zonal flow across the region. Light snow will be possible across the area . . . especially in far northern Ohio and along the snowbelt into northwest PA. By Sunday afternoon a chance of snow to pretty much the entire forecast area into Monday morning.
Accumulation will be light with these snow showers . . . with most locations not expected to pick up more than an inch through the weekend. Daytime high temperatures will remain cold . . . generally in the mid to upper 30s . . . around 10 to 15 degrees below normal for the middle of November.
