We have a comet in our sky: Comet 46P/Wirtanen. Each night the comet will move eastward in the sky. The moon, Taurus, Gemini, Auriga and Orion will be good aids to locate the comet. Using 10 power binoculars or greater is helpful in seeing the greenish comet. It has a slight contrast with the night sky. Using a camera on a tripod with a zoom lens would be an alternative. One might be able to capture the comet digitally. This is just the beginning of our beautiful winter constellations. More information to come concerning a total lunar eclipse for on January 20, 2019! It becomes total around midnight. If the sky is clear, it is a great, crisp, winter viewing. The moon will be high in the sky. Enjoy these beautiful winter stars and constellations!
