Snow Gale Engulfs Put-in-Bay

Snow and gale winds continue to hammer Lake Erie and the Bass islands.  A winter storm warning remains in effect until 4am Sunday; a lake-shore flood warning remains in effect until 7am Sunday, 20 January 2019.  Snow accumulated five inches Saturday, for a total of nine inches in the past six days.

Put in Bay snowOttawa County, Ohio, is in a Level 3 Snow Emergency.  Roadways are closed to non-emergency travel due to extremely hazardous conditions. No one should be on public roads unless absolutely essential to travel. Drivers operating vehicles for non-emergency reasons may be subject to arrest.

At 6pm the National Weather Service reporting station at South Bass Island Lighthouse released the following report:

On the sheltered side of South Bass Island, peak wind speed data stands at 24mph.
