Marine Weather Statement
National Weather Service Cleveland OH
948 PM EST Sat Feb 23 2019
Significant ice cover remains on Lake Erie and numerous ice floes
have developed during recent days.
A rapidly deepening low pressure system is expected to move
northeast into the Great Lakes region Sunday. The storm system
will cause gale and storm force winds on Lake Erie. The strong
winds will cause the ice floes to shift closing any tracks or open
areas on the lake. The hazardous conditions will occur late
tonight and continue through late Monday.
Vessels are advised that ridging and rafting of the ice floes is
likely along with vessel entrapment between the ice floes.
Ice shoves are also likely into marinas and harbors as the ice is
pushed down wind.
