USCG Marblehead recognized three Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Department members for mutual aid assistance with Catawba Island Fire/Rescue Marine. PiBVFD participated in the ice rescue efforts of fishermen stranded on an ice floe off Catawba Island State Park on 9 March 2019. During the time of the call east winds were topping out at around 30 knots with rapidly changing conditions. Luckily, with the quick reaction, everybody was brought into safety in two hours.
