Bible Explorers of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Put-in-Bay, raced wood sailboats with lung-power to conclude a period of study about the life-saving grace of Jesus. Rev. Mary Staley organizes the weekly Bible study for children with the assistance of parents. This afternoon’s event, held in the church undercroft, included a visit by Commodore Perry!

The sailors, decked out in nautical attire, had to blow their sailboats down a long canal (i.e., rain gutter filled with water). During the event, Mother Mary referenced various points of interest related to the children’s Bible study. Participation prizes were awarded, and post-race treats were offered as well.
