Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers put on another successful 5k run/walk on Saturday morning. 44°F and gusty northwest winds did not dampen the enthusiasm and energy evident among all the participants in the fifth annual event. A pre-race gathering at Mr. Ed’s set the stage for excellent 
camaraderie while Oliver Thwaite, of All-Sports Races, prepared the start/finish line with electronic sensors. The 3.1 mile route wound its way through South Bass Island with both a Browns Backers golf cart and Put-in-Bay Police escort. Entrant #51 finished first with a time of 16:59 minutes!
