Erie Islands Petroleum Serves Bass Islands

Erie Islands Petroleum, locally known as the Pit Stop fuel station on Langram Road, Put-in-Bay, completes a major portion of its work on an after-hours schedule.  Captain Gary Kowalski, managing owner, operates the fuel tug Cantankrus on a regular night-schedule to provide the Bass Islands with heating oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline.  On Sunday, 5 May 2019, Captain Kowalski photographed the village skyline as he brought the Cantankerus into Put-in-Bay harbor.  The vessel, a 1955 landing craft, is USCG certified for safe fuel transport on Lake Erie.
