On Monday evening, Island residents gathered at Miller Boat Line Lime Kiln Dock to say, unofficially, “Goodbye to summer.” After bicyclists, pedestrians, and a few vehicles boarded the ferry, fireworks and cheering accompanied the departure of the 8pm boat to Catawba. Coach Shuffenecker and members of the Put-in-Bay School Volleyball team collected donations for the suicide prevention fund as the community celebrated another dynamic tourist season.
