Put-in-Bay Panthers basketball started the season yesterday versus Bowling Green Christian Academy. The girls played the first game and were defeated 54-30. The Lions started hot and the Panthers had to play catchup the rest of the game. Leading the team in scoring was Hannah Lentz with 11 points and Cecilia Glauser 10 points. The boys started their season after the first game. The shorthanded Panthers ran out of gas and lost 70-31. Lack of depth hurt the boys. Leading scorers were Jacob King with 12 points and Doug Steidl with 7 points. Both teams played hard and worked out the wrinkles before the big trip up to Mackinac Island. The team leaves Thursday on the 10:30am ferry. The games will be broadcast live on wpib radio. The ladies tip first around 1:45pm. The Panthers will play a total of four games Friday.
