Lake Erie Islands Conservancy Publishes Spring Newsletter

Lake Erie Islands ConservancyLEIC provides information on the native plant and tree sale and on upcoming programs.  Be advised:  any Conservancy events may be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Please monitor the LEIC on Facebook and the LEIC web site.

Earth Day will be celebrated individually–look for the the checklist developed with the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center in the newsletter. The Village Tree Commission will not hold a public Arbor Day program this April.  They will hold a private tree planting later.

Get out and enjoy the island preserves, just remember to maintain the six foot physical distancing. Dutchman’s breeches are budding up at the Jane Coates Wildflower Trail.  An eastern phoebe showed up in Lisa Brohl’s yard to remind us spring is here.

Please be mindful of others by keeping dogs on a leash and picking up after your pet using the bags and containers provided. No pets are currently allowed at the Jane Coates Wildflower Trail as posted.  Be careful to use hand sanitizer if touching a bench or brochure box and avoid congregating in large groups in the parking areas.
