Put-in-Bay School Class of 2020 Commencement was held at Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial at 6:30pm on Friday evening. COVID-19 circumstances changed the academic year and necessitated a delayed celebration. Graduates Joseph Byrnes, Cecilia Glauser, Carin Kirsch, Alexandra Knauer, Hannah Lentz, and Morgan Stacy received a
multitude of scholarships. Keynote speaker Ms. Sandra Brausch was not able to attend; however, Board of Education member John Domer read her address to the audience.
School Superintendent/Principal Steve Poe recognized the Eighth-Grade Class promotion to high school. The Freshman Class includes April Baca-Regalado, Joseph Blumensaadt, Hope Cooks, Elora Hubner, Emil Michael, Lyla Steidl, and Eleanor Kostura. Mr. Poe also announced the Seniors’ future plans.
The valedictory address was given by Alexandra Knauer; the class salutatory address was given by Joseph Byrnes. In closing, Seniors moved their tassels and the Junior Class led the singing of the Alma Mater.
Face masks and seating limited to family members clearly indicated the state of affairs in 2020.
