Island Green Scene Winter Edition

Lake Erie Islands Conservancy’s quarterly publication, Island Green Scene, is now available via the PDF link below.  Lisa Brohl’s introduction to the winter edition warrants publication here.

For Lake Erie Islands Conservancy, hindsight is truly 2020. The year 2020 commemorates 20 years as an organization. Over 100 acres of forests, wetlands, and shores have been preserved since we began in 2000, culminating with the dedication of Cooper’s Woods Preserve early this fall. We are so grateful to all who have supported us over the years through volunteering, donations, and so much more. As we enter the new year and our next chapter, we will need to continue to preserve special places as well as to properly steward those we have protected–working with our partners, the Put-in-Bay Township Park District, to make sure that invasive plant species are removed, trails are built, and any signage is designed thoughtfully and properly placed. We will need to shift into our next 20 years with new ideas for volunteer management, membership growth and involvement, and a strong commitment to preserving our legacy for the future. As you read the quarterly newsletters and enjoy walking the preserves, please join us as we dream for the future of our islands as well.
