Whether “green” makes you think of cash, vegetables, or the environment, it is certain each of these elements pertains to local grocery shopping on South Bass Island. Change is a constant at Put-in-Bay, but options for convenient access to fresh and frozen food, personal care products, cosmetics, and sundries increase almost daily at three island businesses catering to community necessities: The Island General Store, the Island Hardware and Market, and the Pit Stop all seek to provide consumers with unique access to retail food and non-food products.
PiBDaily™ recently visited each purveyor to determine the extent of their offerings and to showcase the extensive item availability. While commonality exists in the three venues, each presents a distinct purchasing avenue for customers. Island General Store remains the traditional grocery market with aisles dedicated to product categories. Not sure what you need, but want the alpha to omega, go there! Newly dedicated Island Hardware and Market offers a fresh look with standard and eclectic items. You know which basics you want and you wouldn’t mind adding a few tantalizing specialties? Visit the Market! The Pit Stop continues in the norm established by its name: drop in for a quick pick-me-up or gather a few necessities for lunch or dinner. There’s plenty to choose from, whether it’s fuel stabilizer, cappucino, cash from an ATM, or Jello!
The images which follow, grouped by individual business, represent the order in which PiBDaily™ visited and does not portray any shopping preference. Each locale does a splendid job for the island community. We remain thankful for the dedicated energy and positive outlook which shape the efforts to provide exceptional service!
