Ohio Turnpike to Host Customer Appreciation Event at Commodore Perry Service Plaza on Friday, May 27th. The Ohio Turnpike and the Ohio State Highway Patrol
(OSHP) are teaming up ahead of Memorial Day to host a customer appreciation event at the turnpike’s Commodore Perry Service Plaza in Clyde, Ohio, on Friday, May 27.
Everyone is invited to attend the event, which runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The service plaza on the Ohio Turnpike is located at milepost 100 eastbound in Sandusky County.
The event coincides with National Motorcycle Awareness Month and the kickoff of Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky, Ohio.
“Our customer appreciation events provide travelers and local residents and their families with a fun, almost carnival-like atmosphere to meet with turnpike staff and participating service plaza partners as well as discuss traffic safety issues with OSHP troopers,” said Adam Greenslade, director of marketing and communications for the Ohio Turnpike.
The OSHP will display a patrol car inside the service plaza for the public to see a cruiser up close. The Ohio Turnpike and OSHP also want to remind motorists to drive safe as the 100 deadliest days of summer begin from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.

With Ohio Bike Week kicking off on May 27, there will be an increase in the number of motorcycles traveling on Ohio roadways and in the Sandusky area.
“Motorcycle safety is a shared responsibility among all on our roadways,” said Lieutenant Brett Gockstetter, Milan Post commander. “We encourage motorcyclists to wear their protective gear, ride trained and sober, and have a motorcycle endorsement. All simple steps to keep themselves and others safe on our roadways.”
The turnpike’s service plaza partners, AVI Foodsystems will provide $1 hot dogs and other items for lunch, and Applegreen USA Welcome Centers will provide complimentary samples from Starbucks and Auntie Anne’s. Kona Ice will provide complimentary flavored ice cones, courtesy of the Ohio Turnpike.
Grizzly, a radio host with 94.5 WXKR Classic Rock in Toledo, will broadcast live at the event. Cumulus Broadcasting and the Ohio Turnpike are hosting prize contest giveaways that include chances to win tickets to a Toledo Mudhens’ game and Jet Express, and gift cards for Alan Miller Jewelers and Forest View Recreation Bar and Grill. No purchase is necessary. Click here to enter and for contest details.
