Make Put-in-Bay Plans for 4th July Weekend

The 4th of July weekend Independence Day celebration is sure to deliver a great holiday at Put-in-Bay.  The fireworks display, scheduled for Monday at dusk, always ranks among the best in Ohio.  Moreover, Put in Bay golf cart rentalthe opportunities for excellent activities abound.  Here’s PiBDaily’s list of five must-do suggestions:

Third on our list is the suggestion to visit the beautiful nature trails sprinkled all around South Bass Island.  Scheef East Point Preserve, Massie Cliffside Preserve, and the Nature & Wildlife Center are most rewarding.  Scheef East Point Preserve combines a peaceful combination of inland flora and wildlife with the dynamic presence of Lake Erie shoreline.  Massie Cliffside trail winds through a serene island forest and opens up to a marvelous field with benches and outstanding views of Put-in-Bay, Gibraltar Island, and Middle Bass Island.  These spectacular places have come about through the efforts of Lake Erie Islands Conservancy.

DeRivera Park Put-in-BayNext you will want to make time to stroll along the Put-in-Bay waterfront and DeRivera Park.  The setting remains one of the most pleasant places for relaxation and people-watching.  Picnic tables and benches offer a nice arena in which to appreciate the island atmosphere.

South Bass Island LighthousePiBDaily’s fifth item is a visit to South Bass Island Lighthouse.  Here you will learn about environmental issues affecting the Bass Islands before climbing to the top of the lighthouse tower to see an expansive view of Lake Erie’s South Channel.
