Panther Volleyball Team Rebounds After Drought Night

The Panther volleyball team fell to the Start High School Spartans on Thursday.  The girls never gave up, but they couldn’t get over the hump.  Put-in-Bay lost all 16-25, 21-25, 20-25.

It was a completely different afternoon on Friday against Jones Leadership.  The Panthers won all three sets at their home-opener!

Coach Schuffenecker challenged his girls to mentally rebound after a sluggish performance the day before.  “We didn’t play to our best ability on Thursday; we dug ourselves holes and had to fight out of them.  Against good teams you get beat,” the coach said. The challenge was to take the next step in volleyball–not just play hard, but play technical.

The ladies did just that and the Mustangs had no answer for the Panthers.   The Panthers swept the Jones 3-0 (25-15, 25-6, 25-5).  The feel of the team and gym was different playing in front of a loud student section.  The girls gave them plenty to cheer about from the service line.  In game one, 15 of the 25 points came from services aces.   Macy Ladd has a career-day earning 18 aces in the match.

The team played well and improved their record to 4 wins and 3 losses on the year. The Panthers have two tough games next week against Emmanuel Christian on Wednesday and Clyde on Thursday, so they must have sharp practices this week!
