Panther Volleyball Sweeps Again

Put-in-Bay home court advantage helps Panthers sweep visiting Emmanuel Christian Warriors (25-10, 25-22, 25-22).

The Jim Poulus Rec Center can be a difficult place for visiting teams to play as the low ceiling catches a lot of balls which in most gyms are good passes.   Coach Schuffenecker always challenges his team to start fast and use this to their advantage before the visiting team adjusts.  This is just what his team did today!  Tied 5-5 in the first game, the Panthers went on a big run and finished the series with a dominating win.

The second set started much like the first with a 7-0 run from senior Macy Ladd.  It looked like it was to be a rout, but the visiting team fought back.   After the opening serve, the teams went back and forth for a Panther win.

The student section brought out the broom for the start of the third set–it was almost premature as the Panthers fell behind 7-0.  Through team play the Panthers got it back to 7-7, traded scoring points and then prevailed 25-22.

Leading the team in kills was LIlian Frederick with 16, Macy Ladd with 10, Ava Heineman had 13 assists, and Elora Hubner tacked on another 10.

Joy at taking the lead.
