Panther Volleyball Improve Record to 7-4

Put-in-Bay School Volleyball gets revenge against the visiting lions of Bowling Green Christian. The Panthers were hungry to avenge their opening season loss and did so in 4 games today (25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 25-6).

The vibe in the gym was electric with very competitive volleyball play. In the first set, Coach Schuffenecker called a timeout–down 12-14.  He challenged his team to settle in and that’s just what they did.   The Panthers went on a 13-3 run to finish the game.

Service errors added up forcing the Panthers to lose the second game. Lyla Steidl provided a spark from the service line in game three and helped get Panthers the lead. Lyla lead the team with 4 aces.

Senior Lilian Frederick had a career night with 19 kills. Coach Schuffenecker thinks it’s possibly school record. Ava Heineman had a season high 19 assists.

Coach Schuffenecker said of his team, “We needed to make adjustments due to a player limited with injury.  The girls adjusted on the fly and showed great poise to get the win.”

The Lions suffered a key injury at the end of the third game. The Panthers ran away with the fourth set. The win improves the Panther record to 7 wins and 4 losses. The Panthers have a big home game on Monday, 26 September 2022, vs. Waite. They look to continue their string of successes and finish the season strong!
