
Station SBIO1 – South Bass Island, OH – is a NOAA National Data Buoy Center facility. The data recorded this week chronicles the amazing and dramatic environmental change delivered by the bomb cyclone weather event of 22-24 December 2022.
Great Lakes Engineer/Scientist Eddie Verhamme brought to our attention the graphical representation of the exact moment the storm front passed Put-in-Bay. Note the 55mph wind gusts, the air temperature drop from 42°F to 3°F in eight hours, and the major air pressure drop in the graphs below.
