SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FROM 10 AM MONDAY TO 10 AM EDT WEDNESDAY

* WHAT…West winds 20 to 30 knots with gusts up to 40 knots and
waves 3 to 7 feet expected.

* WHERE…The nearshore waters of Lake Erie from Maumee Bay to
Vermilion OH.

* WHEN…From 10 AM Monday to 10 AM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS…Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Prolonged westerly winds will lead to
falling water levels on the western basin of Lake Erie. A Low
Water Advisory may be needed.

5k Participants Exuberant in Spite of Rainy Morning

Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers 5k participants found enthusiasm and excitement in their veins on Sunday morning in spite of overcast skies and early-morning drizzle.

USA Race Timing and Management prepared the course early under miserable conditions, but the rain let up in time for the official start at 10:20am.

120 participants gathered at Mr. Ed’s for the pre-race to complete registration and enjoy the camaraderie.  The excitement was palpable, especially for Kelly Beauch, who underwent knee surgery and registered for her first 5k in ten years. “It was run a block and sit, and now she’s running again,” exclaimed her husband, Jeff.

Last year’s victor, Patrick Miller (69), and second-place finisher Brian Nichols from Kentucky, also exhibited excitement.  Said, Mr. Nichols, “This is one of the best races ever.  Why wouldn’t you come?”

Courtney Russel and Nik Pettenski opted to complete the course on bicycles this year.  Others made excellent progress as the sun delivered more pleasant conditions.  Congratulations to the Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers for a successful 9th annual event!.

Perry’s Cave & Fun Center Opens May 1st

Family Fun at Put in BayPerry’s Cave & Family Fun Center, a long-time Put-in-Bay favorite venue where families and friends create lasting memories, opens for the season this Monday, 1 May 2023.

Perry's Cave and Family Fun CenterA multitude of pleasant activities are conveniently located on Catawba Avenue, a short jaunt from beloved downtown dining establishments and Miller Boat Line’s Lime Kiln Dock.

Start with a tour of the historical cave, try your hand at gemstone mining, learn about butterflies, conquer the maze, and play a relaxing game of mini-golf at War of 18 Holes.  Children and kids-at-heart will enjoy the unique and entertaining adventures.
