Put-in-Bay High School Valedictorian Accomplished Artist

Macy Ladd, valedictorian of the Put-In-Bay School class of 2023, stands with an acrylicon-canvas painting she completed this spring.  Macy is the daughter of Chris and Heidi Ladd.

Measuring 4-by-6 feet, the untitled work depicts a woodland scene that employs deft brush strokes to simulate dappled sunlight. This was the centerpiece of Macy’s artwork featured at the 2023 Art Show on May 16. In addition, Macy’s “Wayfaring,” a watercolor scene of a sailing ship, was displayed at the Toledo Museum of Art in April.  Macy is a recipient of the “Art to Market Award” by the Ninth Congressional District.

After addressing her classmates at commencement on May 25th, Macy will work at Boardwalk Harbor Operations, Put-in-Bay, this summer.  She begins her freshman year at Kent State University this fall.
