Put-in-Bay School 2023 volleyball season started in July for the first time ever. The team needs all the practice they get in order to retool strategies after graduating seniors Macy Ladd and Lillan Frederick left a huge void in the program. The record book is filled with their names.
Coach Schuffenecker knows this year’s team has to shoulder the load, so he started by securing help. This year’s team will receive more individual instruction thanks to the addition of Ms. Madeline Pugh as Assistant Coach.
Seniors El Kostura, Elora Hubner and Lyla Stiedl will step into lead roles instead of support. Ava Heineman also comes back as a veteran presence. The team welcomes three new players: Lily Schweitzer, Emma Michaels, and Olivia Christensen.
The team has come together fast and began the season with pair of 3-1 wins over Toledo Hornets and Rogers Rams. Outstanding plays have been made by the whole team to get their record to 2-0. Coach Schuffenecker reports, “The team is winning the games and everyone is giving key contributions. The ladies play tonight at Bowling Green Christian with a 4:30pm start. The game is broadcast on the Put-in-Bay School youtube page.
