Parking Update for Spring Fishermen at South Bass Island
As the spring fishing season kicks off at South Bass Island, Mayor Judy Berry has released important parking information for all visiting fishermen. With the ice already melted and the Miller Ferry in operation, the island is ready to welcome anglers from near and far.
Key Parking Changes:
-
Delaware Ave Parking: Until May 1st, Delaware Ave. will allow parallel parking for fishing rigs. After this date, the avenue will revert to angled parking for golf carts only.
-
Parking Fines: To avoid fines of $35 or more, fishermen should be mindful of parking laws and signs, including no parking zones such as yellow curbs and in front of driveways.
Alternative Parking Solutions:
-
Put-in-Bay Yacht Club: For guaranteed parking, contact the Yacht Club at manager@pibyc.org. They offer parking for a fee.
-
Taxi Services: After launching your boat, you can park your vehicle and trailer at your lodging and use a taxi to return to the dock—allowing for a smooth start and end to your fishing day.
-
Golf Cart Rental: Renting a golf cart can make it much easier to get back to the dock after parking your vehicle and trailer at your lodging.

To assist with your visit, Island Hardware and Market has created a 2025 Spring Parking Guide. This visual guide details where free parking is available, helping you navigate the island more effectively during your trip.
