Community Shows Strong Support at Weenies & Tini’s Fundraiser for PIB Police K-9
The island community came together Thursday evening for the Weenies & Tini’s fundraiser, an event designed to raise money toward the purchase of a K-9 officer for the Put-in-Bay Police Department.
Hosted at The Dog House and Round House patio, the fundraiser was a true community gathering with kids, families, and plenty of dogs in attendance. Guests enjoyed a wide variety of food from The Dog House menu, raffles, face painting, watercolor pet portraits by local artist Celeste Mycoskie, a photo booth, and yard games.
Former Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office K-9 handler Gary Allred has been leading the effort to bring a police dog back to Put-in-Bay. Allred previously worked with K-9 Storm during his time with the sheriff’s department. While the total amount raised is still being calculated, the strong turnout underscored the island’s support for having a K-9 officer return.
“It was great to see kids, dogs, and families all out enjoying themselves while supporting a cause that matters for our community,” one attendee said.
