Big Win for Put-in-Bay School Volleyball

Put-in-Bay Panther Volleyball defeats Northwest Ohio Classical Academy Spartans in a fiercely competitive match on Monday afternoon.
Panthers dig deep and get big win on senior night. The afternoon started with the honoring of three seniors: Lyla Steidl, Elora Hubner, & El Kostura. These three girls deserve a lot of credit. Coach Schuffenecker said of his seniors, ”They do a lot of things very well and everyday they get better. Each of them is at their peak, which as a coach is what you hope at the end of the senior year.”
The volleyball game was ready to go versus Northwest Ohio Classical Academy and El Kostura started the game on fire by securing a 5-0 lead; but the lackadaisical play cost the panthers the first game–Spartans 25-22.
Coach Schuffenecker challenged the team and they responded with 25-18, 25-16 wins. The panthers wanted to keep up the heat but the Spartans, facing defeat gained a 6-0 lead in game 4. “Certainly not the way you want to start a close out set,” said coach Shuffenecker, “but our team is tough and has shown mental toughness.”
The panthers kept closing the gap and the game came down to set point with the Spartans up 24-22. Ava Heineman stepped up to the service line and landed the Panthers a 26-24 win. The Panther record moves to 7 wins and 5 losses on the year. The final home game is tomorrow versus Woodward. Come cheer on the girls and Get Your Grrrowl On!
