Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers Partner with All Sport Fundamentals to Create New Family Event
The Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers are gearing up for a new event we hope you will embrace and take part in. It is the Draft Day 5k Run/Walk. The club has partnered with All Sport Fundamentals to make this a professional event with runners/walkers of all kinds. The group has also worked with the Cleveland Browns to secure an agreement to use player names and numbers for the back of the sponsor shirts. These shirts will have the club logo on the front with player names/numbers on the top of the back; a list of sponsors will be underneath. Please visit the event website at DRAFT-DAY-5K!
The Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers have, in the past, donated to various charities on and off the island. Each year they support the Cleveland Browns Foundation, which in turn helps charities around the world. The club also supports the Ricky Dysert Scholarship Fund, Gustav Heineman Scholarship Fund, JerBear/Kurt Scholarship Fund, Verhoff Scholarship Fund, Back to the Wild, Put-in-Bay Arts Council, and they have delivered two of their own yearly scholarships worth $1000 each. The members supported the Perry Group during the bicentennial event, the Toledo Fire Fighters, Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Put-in-Bay EMS, Glen Haven Relief Fund, St. Paul’s Food Pantry, and Kids for Christmas.
The new event will help to increase funds for more donations and bring business to the island during the slower season. Below is a copy of the sponsor tier sheet. Please look it over carefully, print a copy, select a support level, and send it to: Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers, P.O. Box 773, Put-in-Bay, Ohio 43456. Please contact Kelly Mohn, club secretary, at 419-341-2976 if you have any questions. You can also contact the club at leibb43456 “at” gmail.com. The Draft-Day-5K is coordinated by the following committee members: Brad Mathys, Rachel Mathys, Jerry Flint, Kelly Mohn, Jenny Fuchs, Steve Stapleton.
