Put-in-Bay School News ~ by Scott Mangas, Superintendent

Dear Put-in-Bay School Community,

As we transition into the month of March, it’s an opportune time to reflect on the exciting events and achievements that have taken place within our school community.

First, I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Joe Blumensaadt, our senior basketball player, for his outstanding leadership both on and off the court. We celebrated Joe’s contributions during our recent basketball season closure on February 3rd. The basketball teams concluded the season on a high note, with the varsity team achieving an impressive 9-5 record and the JV team finishing at 1-4. I would like to express our gratitude to the parents, student-athletes, and coaches for their unwavering support and dedication throughout the season.

Our annual Science Fair once again showcased the incredible talent and hard work of our students. With their innovative projects, our students captivated judges and members of the community alike. Congratulations to all participants for their impressive contributions.

On February 16th, the Put-in-Bay Spelling Bee, skillfully managed by Ms. Pugh, brought together students in grades 4-8 for a highly competitive event. It was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, with Kate Hubner emerging victorious and taking home the trophy. Well done to all participants for their excellent efforts!

Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the once-in-a-lifetime event of the Total Eclipse on April 8th. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of our students, the school has acquired viewing glasses for all attendees. We plan to hold an assembly for our students from 1:00 onwards, leading up to the eclipse viewing. The island will be in total eclipse between approximately 3:09 to 3:16. On this special day, we will dismiss school slightly later, with the elementary school dismissing at 3:30 and the high school at 3:35.  As always, we remain committed to providing enriching experiences and opportunities for our students. Thank you to our entire school community for your continued support and involvement.
