Photoshop Elements Instruction Available at Erie Islands Library in August
The Erie Islands Library is happy to announce a new series of classes on Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 this fall. “Photoshop Elements is the most popular of all the photo editing software programs available to the photographic enthusiast today,” says Bill Gordon, the instructor for the new classes. “This program is the best way to elevate your photography to the next level,” he adds.
Mr. Gordon received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California and has been a professional photographer for over 30 years. He has taken many classes and attended numerous seminars on Photoshop in addition to working with the program on a daily basis for 14 years. He and his wife Mary own Photomaker Studios in Port Clinton.
“Photoshop is a big, complicated and expensive program that can be very intimidating to the new user,” says Gordon. “That’s where Photoshop Elements really shines. It’s user friendly, contains 95% of the features of full Photoshop and is much less expensive. In my humble opinion, the best way to start learning about Photoshop Elements is to attend this series of free classes at the Erie Islands Library.”
Three classes will be offered, progressing in difficulty and expertise from introductory to more advanced. Photoshop Elements-1, the beginning class, will cover basic procedures, such as editing and organizing images in Elements. The class will also include instruction on using the “instant fix” function to greatly improve your pictures quickly. Photoshop Elements-2 will cover the 26 “guided edits” that teach you how to do things like adjust the contrast, brightness, color and cropping of your images. Photoshop Elements-3 will be for more advanced users, preferably for those who have attended Classes 1 and 2. In this class you will learn to use some of the wonderful “tools” that are available to you in Elements so that you can remove unwanted items from your pictures, merge multiple images together to create a panoramic image and other exciting tasks.
The Photoshop Elements-1 class will be held on Tuesday, August 5th at 2:00 PM. The Photoshop Elements-2 class will be on Tuesday, August 12th at 2:00 PM. The Photoshop Elements-3 class will be on Tuesday, August 19th at 2:00 PM. Please call the library at 419-285-4004, or stop in to register.
