,Larry Fletcher, from Lake Erie Shores & Islands, and Amy Skolnik, from Stein Hospice Sandusky, visited with Chamber members on Monday at 1 pm. Ty Winchester, President, emphasized the importance of Put-in-Bay’s relationship with these two organizations. Mr. Fletcher shared the launch information for the new “Lake Erie Love” campaign (21 and 22 May 2014), and he added the possibility exists for the musician Walker Hayes to visit South Bass Island. Mr. Hayes is the creator of the “Lake Erie Love” music video.

Ms. Skolnik expressed appreciation for the support given to Stein Hospice by the Bass Islands community. She also provided details about the 5k Run/Walk scheduled to take place on the morning of 23 June 2014–Pyrate Fest Weekend. Pre-registration costs $20, day-of registration is $25. Participants will receive a cleverly designed t-shirt, and the monies earned will go toward the charity care fund. Mr. Winchester added, “There is great island unity in this event.” The Chamber Board approved the production of a “way of life” calendar to promote the businesses of South Bass Island in 2015. It will be released on Founder’s Day. Regular Chamber office hours are scheduled to begin the first week of May. Mr. Winchester reported Chamber events and workload are “bigger then ever.” In this regard, he and Maggie Beckford, Executive Director, are pleased to say Nicole DeFreitas will be the “face of the Chamber on social media, the Q&A person, and the boots on the ground!”
