September Put-in-Bay School News – Mr. Scott Mangas, Superintendent
The school year is off to a great start. We have 76 students and we are already into the 5th week of school. Our staff and students are some of the best in the state. Our High School staff all earned the Governor’s Thomas Edison Award this year for STEM learning. Only 48 schools in the state received this honor, excellent job Put-in-Bay School! We are very fortunate to all be a part of the Put-in-Bay School.
September 15th was grandparents/loved one’s day at the school. We had 30-40 visitors here to enjoy some song and dance with their special student. Ms. Pippert did an excellent job of having our visitors interact with our K-6 students.
Coach Schuffenecker and the volleyball team are presently 6-3 on the season. They are being led by the two senior veterans, El Kostura and Elora Hubner. Please check our school website for an update on game dates and times. Coach Danes and the cross-country runners have been putting in a lot of miles, not just on South Bass Island, but with meets also on the mainland. Our juniors are leading the squad this year with Ava Heineman, Geoffrey Lucke, Jacob Seaman, and Richie Scarpelli.

We would like parents to adhere to the following guidelines when dropping off/picking up their children:
- No parking/waiting on the sidewalk (ball field side of Concord)
- No parking behind the cars in the parking lot
- No parking across the street on Catawba (heading to State Park)
All drop-offs and pick-ups will take place along Catawba Avenue. heading into town. For students walking or riding their bikes to school, the corner of Concord and Catawba will be monitored by crossing guards, school faculty and/or local police to ensure a safe crossing.
We have contacted The Ohio Department of Transportation; they will conduct an audit on our traffic and provide guidance on our safe routes to school.
