Put-in-Bay School News for December
The Latest from Put-in-Bay School
Put-in-Bay School is on winter break through 2 January 2023. Happy Holidays!
Pictured here are students in front of their snowmen. The students were introduced to “The First Day of Winter,” by Denise Fleming. They designed their snowmen based on: “My best friend gave to me 10 salty peanuts, 9 colorful buttons, 8 pink orange berries, 7 maple leaves, 6 tiny twigs, 5 foil sprinkles, 4 prickly pine cones, 3 striped scarves, 2 bright blue mittens, and a red cap with a gold snap!”
The 2022 Great Lakes Islands Basketball Tournament was held December 2nd and 3rd. It was hosted by Beaver Island in Lake Michigan. Pictured are the teams and coaches. The Put-in-Bay Girls won the championship trophy this year and the boys earned second place.
January is “School Board Recognition Month.” We would like to express our gratitude for the work our Board of Education members do. Each member brings a unique perspective and a different ‘skill set’ that benefits the group as a whole. While keeping our children’s best interests in mind, the Board’s decisions have improved and expanded opportunities and programs for our students. Please express your gratitude to Board members: John Domer, Karen Gouziou, Suzanne Kostura, Billy Market, and David Hill.
Congratulations to our choir students and Ms. Gay Pippert for another excellent holiday performance on December 8th. The preparation our kids put into this program was quite evident! Thanks for putting everyone in the holiday spirit.
We would like to thank those who contributed to this year’s Santa’s Shop. Our students thoroughly enjoyed shopping for Christmas gifts for their friends and family! Pictured here is a student decorating a collection box for the Scholastic Pajama Drive.
Thank you to the Put-In-Bay Community for their Scholastic Pajama Drive donations. Over sixty pairs of pajamas were taken to local transitional housing facilities! A special thank you to Elizabeth Heineman.
Our generosity gives people the resources and support they need and empowers them to lead healthier lives.
Scott Mangas, Superintendent
