Put-in-Bay’s Film Affects, LLC, Nominated for Emmy Award
Island film director Peter Huston (Film Affects, LLC) and WGTE Executive Producer Darren LaShelle are included in the 45th Annual Lower Great Lakes Emmy Award Nominations for The Battle of Lake Erie Bicentennial Documentary. The film was first aired on Toledo’s WGTE-TV PBS, on 3 October 2013. The published description reads as follows:

“In September of 1813, during the War of 1812, Oliver Hazard Perry of the U.S. Navy and his crew of 557 brave patriots prevailed over the British fleet in the Battle of Lake Erie near Put-in-Bay, Ohio. Two hundred years later, a fleet of tall ships came together to celebrate Perry’s victory and the enduring peace between nations. On September 2, 2013, thousands of spectators, aboard the tall ships and hundreds of private boats, converged on the battle site for a thrilling re-enactment of the Battle of Lake Erie.”
According to Wikipedia, “Since Emmy Awards are given in various sectors of the American television industry, they are presented in different annual ceremonies held throughout the year.” Also recognized in the category, “Special Event Coverage (other than news and sports),” is Anderson University’s Candles & Carols, by Covenant Productions. There are a total of 91 nominee categories in this year’s awards.
Peter Huston remarked in a Facebook post, “Thanks to Director of Photography Bruce Lundeen, editor Nick James, host Tom Kastle, historian Gerry Altoff, Greg Pieffer at WCPR, Darren LaShelle (WGTE), The Perry Group, Lake Erie Heritage Foundation, The Miller Boat Line and all the ships and all the people that made this an event of a lifetime.”
