Shanties Retreat from Outlying Ice
Put-in-Bay, surrounded by heavy fog on Lake Erie and temperature readings rising to 50°F, witnesses a tactical ice shanty retreat. Visibility is severely reduced, the snow-melt has created large pools of water, and the ice is thinning. Rain in today’s afternoon and evening weather forecast promises more deteriorating conditions.
