Step into Lake Erie History at LEIHS!
A visit to Lake Erie Islands Historical Society, in the village of Put-in-Bay, takes one back in time to experience the awe-inspiring developments of innovators, entrepreneurs, and ordinary people who populated north-central Ohio. For a modest $5 entrance fee, you can immerse yourself in the unique cultural heritage of the Lake Erie Islands.
Wine growing history, famous architectural landmarks, nautical and flight milestones, road racing, Centennial and Bicentennial of the Battle of Lake Erie exhibits, and unique Americana artifacts deliver a stunning view of lives well-lived in previous ages.
The museum gift shop sells “Dont Give Up The Ship “ flags, clothing, and glass ware, as well as a large selection of books written by local authors. Complete your visit with a stop at the Resale Shop, located behind the museum, where you can find a treasure or two, including local antiques at bargain prices.
Lake Erie Islands Historical Society hosts tours, lectures, and seasonal events. The museum is open daily, 11am -5pm, in the summer and weekends in the spring and fall. Don’t miss the opportunity to follow the footsteps of generations past!
