Visit Ohio State Parks in Lake Erie!

Ohio State Parks provide inspiring views, fantastic adventure features, and rewarding recreational opportunities. Among the best locations in the state are four unique environments in Lake Erie: Oak Point State Park, South Bass Island State Park, Middle Bass Island State Park, and North Bass Island State Park.
A great starting point is with a visit to Put-in-Bay (South Bass Island) via the Miller Ferry. Arrival at the Lime Kiln Dock gives you the opportunity to rent a golf cart or catch the bus into the village. Just a short jaunt around a few corners and you will find South Bass Island State Park with water access for boaters, kayak rental, as well as picnic and camping options. This is a real family-friendly spot!

Your next attraction is along the west end of Put-in-Bay Harbor–Oak Point State Park is the smallest one in Ohio and features a lovely gazebo where a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere awaits. Another feature here is the proximity to other attractions like Stone Lab on Gibraltar Island and the Aquatics Visitor Center. Both venues offer interesting and captivating environmental insights.

While the next two locales require a boat ride, either via the Sonny-S ferry to Middle Bass Island, or a private vessel
to North Bass Island, both deserve your attention. Middle Bass Island State Park is home to the old Lonz Winery as well as a marina for boaters who prefer a less active setting than Put-in-Bay. A grand pavilion and an outdoor plaza offer a fantastic gathering place. It is also home to the annual Middle Bass Music Festival held mid-July.

North Bass Island State Park is a world unto itself. Isolated, calm, and steeped in the history of Lake Erie Island grape-growing, this remote setting was once home to a small community which included a school and church. The shores offer pleasant swimming spots, and the landscape beckons walking exploration.
