Last Supermoon of 2025 Rises Over Perry’s Monument

Full Cold Supermoon rising behind Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial at Put-in-Bay, with clear evening sky and winter landscape.

The final supermoon of the year — the Cold Supermoon — rose over South Bass Island this evening, becoming visible above the horizon shortly after 5:15 PM. The moon reaches its official full phase at 6:14 PM, but the early appearance created a bright glow across Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial as twilight settled over the island.

Skies remained clear, allowing for an unobstructed view as the moon climbed higher and intensified in brightness. Temperatures hovered in the upper teens with calm conditions, giving the lakefront a still, winter feel against the snow-covered ground.

Tonight’s Cold Supermoon is the last of 2025 and occurs as the moon approaches perigee, appearing slightly larger and brighter than a typical full moon.

Photos were taken moments after moonrise this evening.
