Jim Siemer has painted watercolors of Lake Erie scenes for over 20 years. He states, “I was fortunate that my dad built a cottage on Middle Bass Island in 1983. The beauty of Lake Erie was my inspiration to begin painting watercolors.”
Life without humor would be stale. I have created two recent works of art that are a unique take on Commodore Perry’s theme, “Don’t Give up the Ship.” They are “Don’t Give Up the Beer” and “Don’t Give Up the Wine. “Both have been quite popular with the Island natives,” said Mr. Siemer.
Mr. Siemer will participate in the Put-in-Bay Art in the Park Festival on Saturday, 7 September 2013. This will be a unique arts festival because it occurs during the Battle of Lake Erie Bicentennial celebrations. He created two paintings of the U.S. Brig Niagara to commemorate the Bicentennial of the Battle of Lake Erie; they will be featured at the show.
The wonderfully cheerful paintings can be found in local Lake Erie gift shops and online at LakeErieArt.com. Below are additional samples of art Mr. Siemer created over the years.
