Lake Erie is only partially frozen, but ice-fishers placed shanties on the west side of South Bass Island. The ice thickness is around 5″. Today’s high temperature of 39°F made slushy spots and raised safety concerns. The “deep freeze” predicted by weather reporters is bound to deliver a safer environment.
