2021 Winter Outlook, by Farmers’ Almanac, will deliver mixed emotions to residents of the Bass Islands.  Those  hungry for ice-fishing will keep fingers crossed and tune-up the ice shanty; snowbirds will start making plans to head south.  Either way, the annual season of great weather anticipation is about to begin!

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration also presents long-range forecasts.  This year, with the presence of La Niña, conditions will be favorable for increased wintry conditions near Lake Erie.

 

This U.S. Winter Outlook 2020-2021 map for temperature shows above-average temperatures are likely in the South and below-average temperatures likely in parts of the North. This 2020-2021 U.S. Winter Outlook map for precipitation shows wetter-than-average weather is most likely across the Northern Tier of the U.S. and drier-than-average weather is favored across the South.

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center updates three-month outlooks monthly. The next update is on November 19, 2020.
