Put-in-Bay School News Highlights End-of-Year Activities

Put-in-Bay School School News – by Scott Mangas, Superintendent

In April our six seniors embarked on a class trip of a lifetime. With chaperones Kim and Maddie Pugh as their travel guides, they spent a week touring Washington and Oregon. The students have some stunning photos so look-up a senior and ask them about their trip.

Teacher appreciation week was May 8th-12th.  Each day teachers received a treat and inspirational note in their mailboxes.  The Lake Erie Islands Browns Backers treated them to breakfast, and the week was topped off with Cameo pizza on Friday.

This year’s high school prom was held at the Jet Express Dock in Port Clinton on Saturday, May 6th. It was a great night. A huge thanks goes to Todd and Jen Blumensaadt for providing the transportation and venue for our high school students. Mrs. Schneider did an excellent job of planning the night.

The Spring Concert / Art Show was on Tuesday May 16th. Student artwork was displayed in the multi-purpose room at 6pm, and a concert followed at 7pm. There was some amazing artwork and the concert was amazing. A huge congratulations to the students and Mrs. Amsden and Mrs. Pippert.

We had our Awards Day in the gymnasium on Thursday, May 18, and a community recognition luncheon on May 15th. This event was catered by the Reel Bar. Thanks to all who attended.

Our last day of school is Thursday, May 25th; student dismissal is at noon. Pizza lunch for all students and staff is provided by the Brewery.  Graduation takes place on Thursday night at 6:30pm at the Perry Monument.

The school year went very fast, and if you ask our seniors they will say< Super-fast!”  We will miss Alice, Macy, Lilian, McKenna, Alec, and Doug, but we know they will be back to visit.

We hope everyone enjoys summer, and we look forward to welcoming students, staff, and faculty for the start of the next academic year on August 30, 2023.
